Parents/Guardians,

Ø     Please remember to call the school to report absences and send a note to the school office when the children return to school.

Ø      The children are not permitted to make telephone calls for forgotten items (i.e. Lunches, money, books, reports, etc.) Only “Emergency” messages will be given to the children during the school day. (Parent Handbook, pg 19)


Afterschool Activities: Afterschool activities (Music, Scouts, Choir, Craft Club, Chess Club, etc) have or will be starting soon. Siblings should not be staying with their brothers or sisters taking part in the activities, unless a parent is present. Also, teachers MUST be notified as to who is picking up the children after their activity is over. Those picking up should not enter the building but should wait outside, the teacher/activity leader will bring the children outside to meet them. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

The Middle School is having a Bake Sale, October 2, to raise money so they may donate a gift for the Auction. The Bake Sale will take place during all lunch periods. The desserts will be priced from $.25 to $1.

From the Health Office:

·        ATTENTION 7TH GRADE PARENTS: State Law mandates that all children entering 7th grade must have a tetanus booster. This information must be provided to the Health Office no later than Sept. 25, 2009.

·        ATTENTION 4th  GRADE PARENTS:  It is required that all 4th grade students have an up to date physical on file in the nurse’s office.

·        A gentle reminder: We encourage healthy lunches for the children including fruits and vegetables.

·        Another Gentle Reminder: Fall mornings are chilly, sweaters or light jackets might be a good idea.

PTO ITEMS:

ü      Our blood drive will be Oct 1st from 1:30-5:00 . . There is still space available to donate. We will have babysitters  to help with kids. ü      HARVEST NIGHTS AUCTION: 7:00 P.M. OCTOBER 17TH @ The Sheraton Tara

 

·      We are just a few weeks away from one of the most enjoyable events for parents and the schools largest fundraiser.  We have some great new additions to this event and there are lots of items that would make great Christmas Gifts.  Why not get a head start on some of your shopping while helping out the school at the same time!  Invitations went home in backpacks last week.  Please return response cards via the PTO mailbox ASAP to reserve your spot.   All responses are due by Oct. 7th..  If you have any questions, or did not receive your invitation, please contact AnnMarie MacIsaac akmacisaac@verizon.net (508)405-4374.

 

·      Donations:  We are still looking for donation of items and services, but time is running out. Remember, be creative, and no donation is too small!  Please send in donation forms to Kellianne Erath c/o PTO box ASAP.  Donations can either be dropped off at the school or arrangements can be made to have it picked up by a committee member.  All donations must be received by Friday October 2ndIf you have any questions about donations, please contact Kellianne Erath:  Erath@rcn.com (508) 879-8363. 

 

·      Class Donations:  Everyone should have received a letter from their room parents via e-mail or backpacks by now about the class gift each grade is raising money to purchase and donate to the Auction.  There are some great ideas: American Girl Dolls, digital camera, I-pods, Wii and much more.  If you wish to help out your class with this goal, please send your donations into your room parent by Oct. 2nd.  Any questions, please contact your room parent, or Susan Michaud: rsmichaud16@mac.com 508-877-4280

 

·      We are still taking donations of bottles of wine for the WINE RAFFLE at this year’s auction.  So check your wine rack and donate a bottle or two!  If you are interested in donating a bottle of wine, please contact Kellianne Erath: Erath@rcn.com (508) 879-8363

ü      Dead Line Extended!!!! Team Up For St Bridget School Fall Fundraiser:The participation deadline for the Team Up For St Bridget School Fall Fundraiser has been extended to THURSDAY OCTOBER 1st.  THANK YOU to everyone who has participated already. If you have not had a chance to participate now is the time! This is an important fundraiser for St Bridget School as the proceeds benefit EVERY student and help fund additional enrichment programs and field trips. The school will make a 50% profit on our sales (40% on selected items). Please see the attached Fall Fundraiser Prize sheet as well as the Fall Fundraiser Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet for details or contact Maggie Dumay at 508-877-5533 or dumay_family@comcast.net.  Thank you for your support of this important fundraiser!

ü      THE DIRECTORIES ARE READY!   The very invaluable directories are hot off the presses, containing lists of the school families as well as the class lists, teachers’ emails, babysitters list, and a directory of services offered by various school families.  You can have one sent home this week by sending in the $10 dues for the PTO (check payable to St. Bridget PTO, “PTO Dues” on the envelope).   Questions? Contact the PTO Treasurer, Mary Chowdhury at mchowdhury@rcn.com.  THANK YOU FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SENT IN THEIR DUES: Your directories were sent home via school mail this week if you didn’t pick it up at the Open House, so check the backpack.

ü      CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR NEEDS A FEW CHAIRPERSONS: We are still looking for a chair (or 2) for the Christmas Craft Fair.  If anyone is interested, please contact Patti McCarthy at 508-620-1377 or pjsmccarthy@verizon.net  Consider recruiting a friend to help with this fun event.  Many of the vendors come back each year, so the responsibilities are mostly to advertise the event and prepare for the day of the Fair.   

MARKETING COMMITTEE: The first meeting of the St. Bridget's Marketing Committee will be on Monday, October 5 at 7:00 pm in a first floor classroom.  This committee is open to all who are interested in helping to promote the school and raise awareness of St. Bridget's School within our community.  We will discuss marketing plans for the upcoming year, including the fall open house for prospective families.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Terrie Pirozzi at terrie_pirozzi@charter.net.

 

7TH & 8TH Grade Parents – Corrections to the High School Chart sent home last week:


Afterschool Use of building; If you are planning to use a room in the school for meetings after school, please pick up a form for use of the building at the school office. The meetings must be OK’d  by Mrs. Mungovan before they may be scheduled.   Thank You!

Music Lessons: Music lessons begin tomorrow, Sept 29th.  We are looking for a parent or guardian of one of the students to supervise the music students as they come and go from their lesson. If you can help on Tuesday afternoons please call the school office. Thank you!
