Weekly Memo - Welcome Back

St. Bridget School is proud and ready to take on this challenge in the 2007-2008 school year. The faculty and staff have enjoyed a well deserved rest and are eager to begin working with you to promote academic excellence and spiritual development in the context of the teachings of the Catholic Church. We welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year!!
While you were sitting by the pool, taking a vacation, or otherwise enjoying the warm summer days much was happening at St. Bridget School. Mr. R.T, Mr. Nieves, and Eric Baker spent the summer washing, waxing, polishing, and painting. Here are a few of the changes made since school closed in June.
Staff Changes:
- There will be one Kindergarten class with Mrs. MacIsaac as the teacher and Mrs. Chichetto as the full time aide.
- Mrs. McCarthy, formerly a Kindergarten teacher, will be the first grade teacher replacing Mrs. Guglielmo.
- Mrs. Marcia Chirichiello has decided not to return to her position as a K aide. We will certainly miss her and wish her well.
- Mrs. Mary Ann Aijala will be the new third grade teacher. Mrs. Aijala has a Bachelor of Science degree from Oneonta State College in New York. She has experience in second grade and has most recently taught third grade in Hudson.
- Mrs. Juliet Murphy is the new fourth grade teacher. She is a graduate of Michigan State University. Most recently she has worked in the Wellesley and Natick school systems as a long-term and permanent substitute.
- Mrs. Whitney Archambeault will be the new art teacher. She is a graduate of Tufts University and has a diploma from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has previously worked as an art teacher in Winchester.
Facility Updates:
- Replaced ceiling tiles to the second floor corridor and painted the ceiling
- Painted the nurse’s office (lilac, their choice)
- Painted the second floor PRC corridor
- New fire doors installed and painted (notice the colors)
- All classroom furniture and windows were washed and the floors waxed
Uniforms:
- When purchasing new school shoes for girls, please see to it that they have FLAT HEELS. It is dangerous walking up and down stairs and running during recess.
- Girls in Grades 4-8 may only wear navy knee socks or tights with their jumpers/skirts. White ankle socks may be worn only with the summer short/skort uniform.
- All boys in Gr K1-5 must wear a light blue polo shirt. The last school year was the transition year in which white or blue shirts could be worn.
- All uniforms MUST be purchased from J.B. Edwards Uniform Company. Non-uniform shorts, skorts, and pants are not allowed. Remember, we have a uniform at SBS, not a dress code.
New Items:
- The Wednesday memo you looked forward to each week will now be the MONDAY memo. Our new web site facilitator is Florence Gannon. To assist her with these new duties and taking into consideration her work schedule, the web site committee and along with Mrs. Feeney and I decided to change the day of our weekly memo. Mr. Jim Butt has been the web site facilitator for the past six years and we thank him profusely for his time and effort on our behalf.
- Email will be a new communication avenue for our total school. We have the ability to send out emails, when necessary, to all our parents at the same time. We will do so sparingly.
- Paper Recylcing Have you noticed the yellow and green bin sitting by the St. Vincent dePaul container?? St. Bridget School has added an Abitibi Paper Recycling Bin. The objective is to ask all parents and parishioners, too, to deposit all their newspapers, magazines, soft covered books, junk mail and catalogs in the bin. The company will pay St. Bridget School per ton of deposits made. Phone books, hard covered books (unless covers are taken off) and cardboard are not accepted. All money raised will go to our Technology Fund. Please help!!
- St. Bridget School has adopted a "Parents As Partners" theme for this school year. The descriptive paragraph may be found on the first page of the 2007 – 2008 Parent Handbook. It will also be visible in the main staircase of school.
Did You Know:
- Our fourth grade teacher, Laurie Leger, is engaged to be married and looks forward to her wedding on October 20th.
- There are 10,000 books in our St. Bridget School Library.
- We will continue to offer morning drop-off at 7:15 am at a cost of $5.00 per day. Mrs. Rita Hall, the K1 aide, will supervise each day. If you are interested in this service please contact me so I may make accommodations for your child.
- St. Bridget School receives funds for using the GoodSearch search engine. Last spring all parents were asked to consider using this search engine and I am asking again. Every little bit helps!
The back-to-school schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, August 28th Visiting Day for all grades 9:30 – 11:00 am
Students and parents will have the opportunity to visit the classroom, meet the new teacher, and bring in school supplies. It is not necessary to wear uniforms.
Wednesday, August 29th First Day of School Gr 1-8
K1 and Kindergarten Orientation 9:00 – 10:00 am

The St. Bridget School staff and I eagerly await your child/children. We hope they have had a restful summer and are eager to return to our school community and take on the academic challenge we offer.
