Testing and Assessment
Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills
- Students in grades two through eight are tested annually using the standardized Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) as well as test of cognitive skills developed by CTBS/McGraw-Hill Corporation. This testing is required by the Archdiocese of Boston, Catholic Schools Office and takes place during mid-October of each school year.
- Results for individual children are disseminated to parents. The testing reports from the CTBS are used by the faculty and administration of Saint Bridget School to assist in developing appropriate instruction for individual students and classes. CTBS scores are evaluated and analyzed by the administration and faculty to regularly evaluate and improve the curriculum and instructional methodologies of Saint Bridget School.
Other Assessments
- Students in grades five are tested annually using the Assessment of Catholic Religious Education published by the National Catholic Educational Association.
- Multiple forms of assessment are used in the regular classroom including portfolios, projects, presentations, essays, and formal tests/quizzes.
- Special education assessments are done by the student’s designated public school system following arrangements made by the Resource Coordinator.
