Kindergarten Screening/Readiness Evaluation

Saint Bridget School utilizes the Speed Dial 3 program produced by the American Guidance Service to assess the readiness of each child for the Kindergarten I and Kindergarten Programs. The assessment includes the age-appropriate measurement of skills: abilities and knowledge related to gross motor skills, fine motor skills, concepts (body parts, counting, shapes, colors), and language development (objects, actions, alphabet, letters, sounds, problem solving).

The test administrators are classroom teachers with expertise in the early childhood and elementary grade levels. A child’s motivation to complete a task as well as the ease or difficulty involved will be noted. Behavioral actions during this assessment will also be observed. During this assessment the child will visit a classroom and be able to interact with other children in their age group. Their individual actions and social interaction will be observed.
